Shaker screens maintenance is rather important for operators. Legal and proper maintenance will lead optimal performance of shaker and ensure screen long usable life.

How should we maintain shaker screen?

During shale shaker operation in solids control system please firstly select proper shaker screens according to actual working condition. Such as the mud property, the treating capacity, the drilled solids specifications

Shaker screens maintenance

Anytime when we stop the shaker please clean the screen panel to prevent any solid block in screen aperture. Inspect the shaker screen clamping system regularly. Make sure the screen right fit on shaker deck steadily. Proper and correct installation will decrease screen wear or failure

Put the shaker screens out of wet condition if we don’t need them installed in short time. When we handle screen panels keep the knife or sharp tools away from screen surface. For composite framed or polyurethane screen we have to keep them out of fire distance

Shaker screens failure

Commonly, shaker screen failures including the cloth surface brokenness, rubber seals pilling off, screen cloth get apart from shaker screen panel, etc.

Shaker screen rubber strip

For different failures we should do different repair work. For the surface brokenness, we can insert the repair plugs on certain holes. This will prevent further and larger brokenness of cloth surface. For the rubber pilling off the frame we need to clean the screen throughly and wait until it’s dry before brushing glue to stick rubber strip again.

If the screen cloth get apart from the panel frame, we kindly suggest replace whole screen panel. If it only works a few hours or much shorter than other screen panels under same condition please toward to supplier for free replacement.

Shaker screen maintenance and repair tool

To maintain screen properly we kindly suggest get a washer for shaker screen cleaning. We’d better use the high pressure one since it will clean screen better with spray water and flush block out under some pressure

Screen repair plug

Another tool is the screen repair plug or we call it snap plug. Usually it is made of rubber, some manufacturers supply the composite plug. Both plugs will help much on repair some shaker screen. Usually, we’ll repair the framed screen. The plugs can be rectangle or hexagonal shape
