Understanding the Principles of Jet Mud Mixer in Drilling Operations

The APSLH Jet Mud Mixer is a specialized device designed for preparing and weighting drilling fluids by adding and mixing bentonite. It can alter fluid density, mud density, viscosity, and dewatering properties. It is even more effective when paired with a shear pump. The jet mud mixer comes in various designs. I am happy to share them with you.

Functions of Jet Mud Mixer

The oil and gas drilling rig industry commonly uses the jet mud mixer. So, what does it do? It primarily functions to mix drilling fluid and regulate fluid properties in oil and gas drilling operations, in order to enhance mud performance. It is a good decision for you to save costs.

AIPU Solid Control has extensive experience in oil and gas drilling, coal bed methane drilling, horizontal directional drilling and water well drilling. Different boreholes require varying equipment standards, particularly in terms of electrical standards, which can vary significantly. The mixer will include a series of centrifugal pumps, mixing hoppers, skids, and pipework arrangements.

Mixing hopper working principle

We use a hopper to extract polymer from a container using a hose attached to the top. The centrifugal pump is actively connected to the side of the unit with a water hose. The bottom of the unit discharges the mixed slurry. A standard unit with a 3/4-inch water inlet and 1-inch suction hose requires a minimum water flow of 76 Lpm (20 GPM) at a pressure of at least 1.4 bar (20 psi).

Pumps play a crucial role in the slurry mixing process. We develop and deliver new and suitable drilling fluids using pump power. This means that the pump circulates the fluid and delivers it to specific locations. The pump generates flow and pressure, and the nozzles or jets create enough suction. Finally, the dry mud material is mixed with the fluid to create the appropriate drilling fluid for the entire mud system.

There are three main models of AIPU Solids jet mixers. The APSLH150-35, APSLH150-40, and APSLH150-50. The difference between them lies in the size of the mixing pump and the flow rate, or mixing capacity. The Apex Solids jet mixers are available in a variety of sizes.
