We ever talked about this topic many times. The types of screen can be divided by material, appearance and the installation way. Jut universally, there will be framed shaker screen, hook strip screen, the composite screen, steel frame screen, corrugated/pyramid screen, flat shaker screen panel

Regarding to detail information, we may find clients request screen by the models or makes. The same model shaker screen even will be differently fabricated by different manufacturers.

To understand shaker screen materials well we should firstly get screen component or part cleared. Shaker screen usually consisted of support frame, plate, screen cloth, sealing rubber. The frame material for steel framed screen is the carbon steel tube, the punched plate will be carbon steel raw material but cold rolled coil plate. The thickness is according to certain screen model.

The screen cloth is the stainless steel wire mesh. The meshes sized from 18mesh to 400 mesh by different configuration on screen API size. API number will depends on different layered screen with certain wire diameter and mesh size. The materials level is at least S.S304, according to API configurations there are S.S304L, S.S316, and S.S316L

The rubber strip under screen panel tube should be oil resistant rubber, such as the CR, NBR, HNBR, etc. However, their initial feature is rubber we just need the additive during process to make them more stable and durable during operation. After processed, they will be wear-resistant, oil-resistant and heat-resistant. But there are different sticking means, such as by digital machine, by hand, etc.

If we use the hook strip screen, the hooks on 2 sides are usually made of galvanized plate after bending. For composite frame screen, the material are complicated, the fiber, the plastic material, the carbon, etcetera. The composite frame internal support frame can be steel or aluminum alloy

Different feature of different screen materials

According to different application, we’ll find the benefit of each kind or screen material. For example, steel frame screen will be economical if compared with same model composite screen. And composite frame screen sometimes is lighter than steel frame one

S.S304 screen cloth is durable enough for drilling fluid process, however, for high quality shaker screen, the S.S316L screen will definitely save much cost on long term operation.
