Shaker screen panels labels information and meaning
Shaker screen panels label of different manufacturers display various. However, there is a standard requirement on labels under API RP13C. Let’s find more information
Information of label on API RP13C compliant screen
Necessary information of API RP13C compliant screen label including both cut point, expressed as an API number, and conductance shown in kD/mm. Such information helps users to get the correct and proper screen panel for different drilling sections.
As we know the D100 separation is used for assigning screen designations. D100 means that 100 percent of the particles larger than the test screen will be retained, and all finer particles will pass through. For example, API 20 equals to D100 780~925microns, so the screen can filter all particles larger than 780microns. The conductance test measures the ability of a fluid to pass through the screen. The non-blanked open area of a screen describes the net unblocked area (in square meters or square feet) available to permit the passage of fluid.
Furthermore, as per API RP13C the labels should be a permanent visible and legible tag. The useful information is cut point and conductance. Since cut point tells user the hole size to separate certain particles out of panel, while the conductance tells the penetration effectiveness of the screen.
The NBA–the non-blanked area is not a must but it can help users to compare screens among different panels and brands. To some degree, it tells the contact area of fluid and reflects the handling capacity of panels.
What is API RP13C?
It’s a physical testing and labelling procedure for shaker screens. To be API RP13C compliant, a screen must be tested and labelled in accordance with this recommended practice. Internationally, API RP 13C is known as ISO 13501.
It’s the new revision procedure of the previous API RP 13E, which was based on optical measurements of the screen opening using a microscope and computer analysis. Under API RP 13E, screen designations were based on individual manufacturer test methods which produced inconsistent labelling.
Why AIPU did test under API RP13C twice?
Firstly, we wish give our clients a better selection on full range screen. We had done a test for screens holding API 40, API 80, API 100, API 140, API 200, API 270 in 2014.
Secondly, we’d like to check our screen configuration of different model panels. Such as flat and corrugated pattern may have different effect.
Thirdly, since 2014 till now it’s been 7 years, we’d like to check our screen accuracy, the compliance, and the consistency.
How to order API RP13C Compliant screens from Aipu?
It’s very easy and convenient. You can contact us anytime and tell us the API designation of screen you need. Tell us the screen model number or shaker model number. We’ll quote you accordingly. Based on your satisfaction you can place order on screens.
Furthermore, if you have special demand on labels / tags (it means requesting your logo indicated on them) or on cartons. Besides the necessary information of screen we’ll do the customization service for you.
API RP13C compliant screens are requested by oil company since such screens can help them to use screen properly and save cost of drilling mud legally. It’s m0re scientific.
