The purpose of the Mud Gas Separator is to remove entrained gas from the drilling fluid. The mud gas separator is the first piece of equipment that treats the drilling fluid and is connected between the mud manifold and the degasser inlet line. It is primarily used to remove large gas bubbles from the gas-infiltrated drilling fluid. These large bubbles are expanding gases in the drilling fluid that mostly fill a section of the borehole annulus. If they are not removed promptly, they can easily cause well surges, which pose a danger to both the drilling well and the operator.

Poor boy degasser is also referred to mud gas separator, liquid gas separator, or gas buster. In oilfield, we set poor boy degasser before shale shaker. While shaker is before vacuum degasser.

Put degasser at flat ground with the foundation bolt. At complete plain level. Make sure all connections in good condition. Check pressure gauge regularly.

There are APMGS800, 1000, 1200 gas separators. Capacity is from 200m³/h to 360m³/h. There are common pressure and high pressure degasser for options. Top ressure gauge is standard configuration. Usually we operate vertical type poor boy. It is more compact.

Oilfield poor boy degasser of Aipu is H2S resistant. Only if clients request lower cost, we'll use common carbon steel. Connection between pipes can be flange or union. Vent lines are extra part agains order. And gas line should be 60-80m.
