Shaker screens failures are the problem of screen during operation. Do you know the potential cause and how to solve the problem?

The failures including cloth surface broken, the frames crack, the handle peeled off, the rubber peeled off and so on

Some of the failure is the ordinary abrasion, while some are because of poor quality and improper manufacture. And the potential cause may be wrong selection on screen mesh size

Potential causes for reference

We ever delivered 20 panels Mongoose composite screens to oilfield. We sent them as user's request on mesh size. But when they installed our screens, there is mud jam and blocking on screen panel. Then we inspected screens, compared our screens and their existing ones. Finally, we found the mesh size of their previous screen is much much coarser than ours

We supplied API 200, but they used the screen sized about API 140 with MG200 mesh. What a big difference it is.

According to field experience and clients’ feedback, we summarize the potential causes together. Including screen quality itself, the shaker condition, the mesh size selection, the illegal operation by operators, the tension set or installation device of panels are in bad condition

How to avoid and shut down the failures?

Please firstly make sure you have selected qualified supplier. Make sure they are professional and making high quality screen continuously. Then use the screen with proper mesh size suggested by drilling mud engineer

Before operating screens, please check the screen panels surface, the rubber strip, and so on. Please inspect the shaker condition, such as shaker bed, screen installation set, the spring and so on.

During operation, we may check screen and shaker by chance to make sure everything is going well. If any failure occurred please check the possibility of using existing panel. And do the necessary repair on the broken holes

If the mud stuck on panels, please adjust the deck angle or change the screen mesh size. If the drilling fluids flow away, please check deck angle and screen size, too. If the screens seem easy to broken, please do some test on mud to check fluids or particles property.
