Issues impacting shaker screen life
Screen itself quality, proper size selection, drilling mud property, legal operation and maintenance. Furthermore, the features of solids to be processed are impacting screen performance too.
If screen quality is poor, we may have to replace it within hours. Or we compare replacement with original one and the replacement ones may only last 1/4 time of genuine screen life. At the same drilling condition, same mud, same solid content or property.
Shaker screen life enhance
When we get high quality screen, but we use it improperly the screen life will be very short as poor quality ones. For example, we drill well deeps about 10000ft and 12 1/4" hole with large content shale and sand the proper screen should be API 170. If we select API 230 or more finer, the screens will be broken rapidly as the high abrasion on screen surface with fine wire screen.
Enhance screen life and performance
Understanding issues influencing screen life we will know better to en-long shaker screen life with higher performance. Select optimal size with proper configuration. Such as we need to process oil base mud or water base mud. Do we need rectangular hole configuration or square hole.
During operation, we have to check or test drilling mud on it's gravity, viscosity, solid content, and so on. Based on such datas we can verify if screen separation effective or not.
High quality PMD screen replacement
Every shaker off in a long time will request complete screen cleaning. And any panel screen removed should be cleaned thoroughly and properly. Thus we can use the screen panels time and time again.
Shaker operation when screen broken
Although we operated shaker, and screens legally per manual and the instruction we have to replace screen panel if there is broken or damage. Or we can repair screens instantly with repair plugs. If shaker screens are broken with large area, please replace them in time thus we'll have great performance on shaker.
Screen broken holes prevent high efficiency separation on cuttings. Thus the subsequent procedure will be not effective neither. So we need to check shakers and the shaker screen to make sure all is in good condition
